YMCA Member Guidelines - Code of Conduct
At YMCA of Saskatoon, we want everyone to enjoy their experience. These YMCA member guidelines will help!
According to YMCA member guidelines, everyone must stop at the Member Services Desk when entering. Then, either scan your Membership Card, show a photo ID (if you’re 18 or older), use a parent pass, or sign in.
As a member, you must follow some simple rules. If you have any questions or worries, please tell us.
We do not permit:
- Physical attacks, threats, bullying, or using actions, gestures, or words to scare others are not allowed.
- The YMCA does not allow bad or disruptive behavior
- Sexual, racial, or ethnic abuse, slurs, harassment, or any other type of abuse based on human rights laws.
- Disrespectful, rude, or harmful behavior and words are not allowed. Bad language is also not allowed.
- Members must not abuse facilities or equipment or damage, steal, or lose YMCA or personal property
- Members must not commit fraud, including misuse of membership cards or facilities
- The YMCA prohibits the use or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs at its properties, in vehicles, facilities, or at sponsored programs
- Smoking or Vaping on YMCA property;
- Contact of a sexual nature, or inappropriate, immodest, or sexually revealing attire;
- If asked to leave, you must not stay in or around the YMCA facilities. Otherwise, it is considered loitering
- According to YMCA member guidelines, using the YMCA’s image, logo, name, or reputation in a harmful way or making negative statements about the YMCA is not allowed.
How we enforce the Code of Conduct
The YMCA member guidelines are in place to keep everyone safe. Therefore, the YMCA can deny access or cancel a membership if a person:
Has been charged or found guilty of sexual abuse,
Is or was on the sex offender registry,
Has been convicted of crimes involving illegal drugs,
Or is under the influence of drugs, chemicals, or alcohol while at the YMCA.
In addition, if someone does not follow the Code of Conduct, their membership may be suspended or canceled. They may also be asked to leave the building, event, or property.
However, if a member feels this action is unfair, they can send a written appeal to the Governance and Board Development Committee. The Board will review it and make a final decision after hearing the member’s side.
What to do: If you think someone is breaking these YMCA member guidelines, please tell any staff person right away.

Photography Policy
Public Spaces
According to YMCA member guidelines, we understand that taking photos has become a normal part of everyday life. People like to share their stories and capture special moments.
Also, many parents use phones or cameras to take pictures of their children. So, it’s okay to take photos in public areas of our facility to celebrate achievements, remember good times, or inspire others to stay healthy.
However, if you take photos with your phone or camera, please be respectful. Only take pictures of yourself or your group. Try not to include others in your photos to protect their privacy.
Private Spaces
As part of the YMCA member guidelines, taking photos or videos is not allowed in areas where people expect privacy. This includes change rooms, showers, steam rooms, saunas, family change rooms, and bathrooms. If you break this rule, your membership may be canceled immediately, and you may not be allowed to use the YMCA again. In some cases, the Saskatoon Police Service may take further action.
